AESTHETIC (DIGITAL) SMILE DESIGN
Aesthetic (digital) smile design is a planning process that uses digital technology to improve and personalize the appearance of a smile.
The aesthetic smile design process is completed in two sessions, after which the approved treatments are initiated.
Stages of Aesthetic Smile Design
1) Consultation and Data Collection
- Photos, videos, and digital scans are taken from the patient. The facial structure and the current condition of the teeth are analyzed in detail.
2) Design and Simulation
- A digital model is created on a computer. Different treatment options are simulated using this model and presented to the patient. The design approved by the patient is shown in the next session through a mock-up applied in the mouth.
3) Treatment Planning
- Based on the mock-up results, an appropriate dental treatment plan is determined. This may include procedures like teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, or gum contouring.
4) Implementation
- The dentist performs the approved treatments in line with the design.
Digital aesthetic smile design helps both the dentist and the patient visualize the desired outcome from the beginning, allowing them to mutually agree on the treatment plan. This method ensures that the final results are not surprising but are pre-planned and approved in advance.
